The Diary of a Kamen Rider Noob

I am a fairly recent Tokusatsu fan who mainly got into Ultraman and then treated Kamen Rider as a bit of a curiosity.

I tried watching Saber, found it unwatchable, then tried Black Sun and found it less... than I was expecting (too much angst, not enough action), enjoyed the Shin Kamen Rider movie, and was finally brought into the fold with Gavv (which, despite its candy-coated exterior is quite dark and moving) and then the series I liked the best, Geats

My good friends really wanted me to try some Showa-Era Rider (the eras are named based on who the Japanese Emperor was at the time of airing) and so they made a "training wheels" (their words) list of selected episodes from the first, 98 episode(!), run of Kamen Rider

Presented here, then, as captured from my BlueSky thread, is a compilation of my real-time reactions to the episodes, just as I have done with Transformers. I'm sure long-time Rider fans will cringe hahaha

~explanation~

I'm a snarky, semi-horrible human being given to penning intentionally bad epic slashfiction involving improbable objects and individuals, with the ultimate ambition of befouling Kindle with it one day, which is ostensibly what this blog is for.

In practice, however, it tends to mainly be a circular file for my various thoughts and ideas, some whimsical and others not, in addition to my various Photoshop experiments, mainly collections of what I originally generated for Twitter but now do for Mastodon Threads Bluesky thanks to Twitter becoming a fascist hellscape.

I also have a sideproject doing art for my addition to Doctor Who fanon, Karnian Script which is a more sigil-based, witchy take on Galifreyan variants.
