Perhaps you may have heard of Sherman's Gallifreyan - a system for making words in a bespoke Gallifreyan Alphabet similar to the (first set) of Gallifreyan language glyphs in Doctor Who. This is my stab at doing that for what I call "Karnian", the language of the Sisterhood of Karn, a mystical offshoot of the Time Lords who left to form their own spiritualist society. It's also my pathetic attempt to leave a mark on Doctor Who Fanon. A full in-universe backgrounder on it is here.
In tribute to the fact that they are more paranormal and occult than the stodgy, scientific Time Lords, rather than try to invent a whole new syllabary for them, I decided to invent a sigil creation system borrowing the principles of sigils in Chaos Magick as the foundation for their construction.
The primitives that make up the Sigils are based on the form of Gallifreyan seen in the Capaldi era, which I personally find more aesthetically pleasing and wished to bring forward. Since Karn and Gallifrey are sister civilisations I felt it only logical their writing would be similar, and indeed you can see Gallifreyan-like iconography on their weapons in the Capaldi era.
I have thrown together a way that SHOULD let you save it to PNG file format, but I guarantee nothing. If it doesn't work for you, you'll have to save a screenshot of it. You can use things like the Windows snipping tool or ShareX to grab copies, or install one of the many browser extensions that let you take captures of webpages like AwesomeShot.
This is a quick and dirty project mainly for my own use but shared with the world, made to the best of my ability. It's currently geared for desktop. If someone wants to code a better version, contact me and we'll talk. I have no opposition to someone making a better version as long as I remain credited as the creator of the system.
Of course! I would appreciate credit in the form of a link back to the generator or my Mastodon handle @paisley_peinforte@mastodon.social. If you don't want to, it's fine, but your subconscious will torment you when you least expect it.
Honestly I doubt it unless someone comes to me with the skills to rebuild it in a nice, responsive manner that doesn't need more than HTML / CSS / Javascript or has a way for me to build in a manner of saving output.
Can I share the completed sigils I make?
Will there be updates to this Generator?
