What if…?

What if…?

WARNING - Mostly Nonsense ahead.

“I wonder if the Emperor Honorius watching the Visigoths coming over the seventh hill truly realized that the Roman Empire was about to fall. This is just another page in history, isn’t it? Will this be the end of *our* civilization? Turn the page.” –Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

When I was young all I had was books, and thus I am very well–and-broadly– read, on topics both mainstream and fringe. I read up on a lot of Eastern and New Age ideas as well. Lately, with the Americans electing Trump, one has come to mind.

Some New Agers claim that when we are born, we incarnate into a body at a certain place and time in order to learn certain lessons– that the Earth is a classroom. Sometimes we just come to “Experience” a certain period or point in time.

Looking at what’s happening– 1930’s Germany slowly unfurling itself in the middle of 2000’s America, part of me actually had this thought last night:

“What if I was born for this purpose? To see this moment? To see with my own eyes the moment the American Experiment finally shat the bed and imploded under its own self-created weight of cultivated ignorance and disregard for facts or history? To watch in an admixture of horror and fascination as the grand dream of a Nation for All taking in the Tired and Poor is put to the flame and a society of antediluvian racist bigots takes over, salting the Earth in the pursuit of profits and leaving their fellow man to rot in misery and fear?”

Is this how my spiritual tourism works? I CHOSE to come see this heartbreaking spectacle of human stupidity writ large?

THIS IS MY VACAY?

Christ, I’m such an asshole.

~explanation~

I'm a snarky, semi-horrible human being given to penning intentionally bad epic slashfiction involving improbable objects and individuals, with the ultimate ambition of befouling Kindle with it one day, which is ostensibly what this blog is for.

In practice, however, it tends to mainly be a circular file for my various thoughts and ideas, some whimsical and others not, in addition to my various Photoshop experiments, mainly collections of what I generate for Twitter.
